Description

One of my user said the chat shows Error #2046
http://gyazo.com/d099da4a9fac23055f19626cf2c8c526

But it works fine for me, and most of the user.

How to fix it?

Thanks!!!

I can confirm this has been happening, and also affecting only a small percentage of users. It has been confirmed for:
  • lightIRC 1.3.3 Build 144
  • lightIRC 1.3.4 Build 158
User Smileface in the lightIRC help channel has found this thread regarding expiration of the digital signature on multiple Adobe SWZ files that are part of the Flex 4.1 SDK that may be related to this problem:

The symptoms are the lightIRC movie starts, the loading bar stops at 0%, and eventually displays "Error #2046" at the bottom.

Hello,

I have the same problem

Please use this SWF (updated a few minutes ago): http://www.lightirc.com/assets/swf/lightIRC_1.3.4_build_159.swf

Please make sure you have the lib folder uploaded. Please delete the existing textLayout*.swz and replace it with this one: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/pub/swz/tlf/1.1.0.604/textLayout_1.1.0.604.swz

Please report if it solves the problem. Thanks!
If the problem persists please post the link to your chat.

Cristian Cortes: The lib folder is not available on your webserver: http://www.netchat.cl/webchat/lib/textLayout_1.1.0.604.swz is not being found.

The problem is set thank you. Remains just empty the Google Chrome cache that is recalcitrant.

Please try to clear the Flash RSL cache (uncheck the checkbox at the very bottom on http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/de/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html) and report if it works then.

The problem is not solved after the two file replaces. :/

Valentin, I migrated the code to this address (http://webchat.netchat.cl/), but still the error 2046 to most of my users appears.

Clearing the cache had no effect, but build 159 fixes the issue

#20 Updated by Kin Kith about 2 years ago

After installing build 159 and updating the textLayout_1.1.0.604.swz file, we still had many Chrome users with error #2046, even after clearing their caches.

But their problem was solved by manually clearing their cache files, instead of using the in-browser button. The proceedure is:
  • Open a Windows explorer run box, and input:
    %appdata%\..\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Pepper Data\Shockwave Flash\CacheWritableAdobeRoot\AssetCache\

  • Or for earlier versions of Windows (Windows XP) use this instead:
    %appdata%\..\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Pepper Data\Shockwave Flash\CacheWritableAdobeRoot\AssetCache\

  • Delete any files and folders found inside

The latest client at www.lightirc.com/assets/swf/lightIRC_1.3.4_build_160.swf (also used directly in the lightIRC IFrame code) fixes the problem.

Root cause was that linked Adobe libraries had an expiration date set. Many applications all around the Internet were affected. The release above bundles the libraries, thus the client is very big now (1.2 MB) instead of loading and caching them at runtime. I'll release a new (smaller) version as soon as Adobe resolves the issue for the particular necessary libraries.

  • Status changed from New to Closed

The SWF has been packaged into a public release. You can get it at www.lightirc.com/download

Thanks everybody for helping to resolve the issue.
